NEWS New Mini-Documentary: 3 Days on the Road with The Supervillains I recently went on tour with The Supervillains, to Largo, New Smyrna and Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Took the camera along and got some footage. Great times, rocked some awesome shows, met some great people, Article: Bar Tab Blues: The Emergence of D.P. in Gainesville Hip-Hop Danny Perez is trying to create the soundtrack to American nightlife. He finds poetry in the half-empty drinks left on bars at the end of the night, the hopes of finding a connection to a scene, the conversations clouded with loose inhibitions and cigarette smoke and the desolation of last call. Much like Bruce Springsteen painted the pictures of the vibrant, consuming life on the New Jersey boardwalk in the mid-1970s, Perez is telling stories of the modern youth through the music of the modern youth: Hip-hop. If it sounds ambitious, that’s because it is, and Perez would be the first to tell you he’s never wanted to be bound by the conventions and stereotypes of a genre that has surrendered songwriting to major label hit factories. He wants to bring the charisma and the artistry back to hip-hop, and if it takes long, drunken nights in Gainesville bars to get there, consider it liquid fuel for thought. Brand New Website Welcome to the new and improved officialdp.com! Hopefully you like the new site, should be a little easier to navigate than the last one, and one central location to find everything. The biggest change you'll notice is that the music player is now a stand-alone player that pops-out, just click the 'music player' button above. Definitely still link up with me on Facebook though (click the link above), as that's usually the best way to stay up on what's new with me. Feel free to drop me a line about the new site by clicking the contact D.P. button below. Photo Shoot South Florida photographer Chris Martin recently came up to Gainesville to do some new promo shots. They came out really great! Here's a sample of what's to come.
New Documentary Tour Footage
I recently went on the road for the weekend, playing at the Gainesville in the Park music festival at the Spirit of the Suwannee music park in Live Oak, FL. From there I made the trip down to Miami to rock with ArtOfficial at Transit Lounge. Here's a small video I put together of American Scene Part 3

To sign up, Click New Interview in InSite Magazine Gainesville is not necessarily known for it's hip-hop scene, but that will change if Gainesville native "DP"—or Danny Perez—has his way. The rapper and songwriter just released a new album, Bar Tab Blues, and a single, "Hollow, " and he took some time out to talk to INsite about his creative process, stereotypes and Jerry Lee Lewis. The Gainesville Sun Reviews 'Bar Tab Blues' Bar Tab Blues, the newest release from Gainesville artist D.P. (Danny Perez) is a step beyond hip-hop. The album has the sides of hip-hop that we all love - the beat, the hook, the words. But Bar Tab Blues takes those elements and overlays them with choruses that could easily fit into any pop or indie rock song, something that can be attributed to Perez's training in classical piano.
